shrIvaiShNava saMpradAya is a very vast ocean of auspicious aspects. This saMpradAya was initiated by shrIman nArAyaNa himself and subsequently propagated by AzhwArs and AchAryas.

Our satsaMpradAya is built on the principles of ubhaya vEdAnta, viz., saMskRîta and drAviDa vEdAnta. The lives and instructions of our AchAryas play a vital role in understanding the principles and conduct ourselves in this path.

This is an attempt to present such essential and fundamental principles in a very simple manner in this book.

This book is based on ‘A simple guide to Srivaishnavam’ by Sri. U.Ve. Sarathy Totadri (koyil.org). A special thanks to him and his team for providing this document for this purpose.

Sri S Narasaraja Bhattar

Sri S Narasaraja Bhattar is the son of Sri Sampathkumara Bhattar, the chief Archakar at Sri Cheluvanarayana Swamy temple, Melukote (Tirunarayanapuram). He holds a Masters degree in Sanskrit, and has qualified as Pancharatragama Praveena. He has also graduated in Commerce and Library science. He has to his credit the title of ‘Vishishtadwaita Vedanta Vidwan’. He has published several books, such as a critical edition of Aniruddha, Kanva and Jayakhya Samhitas of Sri Pancharatragamam. He has also delivered lectures on various sampradaya subjects, including Sri Pancharatragamam, and also our Purvacharya works. He has extensive experience as an Agamika. He has worked in several projects in the prestigious Academy of Sanskrit Research, Melukote, for more than 20 years. He has also performed more than 75 pratishthais, several jeernoddhara pratishthas, mahotsavams, pavitrotsavams and other utsavams at several temples. He has trained more than 50 students in Sri Pancharatragamam, up to Mahotsavam.

By Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy’s Spiritual Talks, he changed His carrier into Spiritual Life. Swamy was given Spiritual Education by the Famous Orators Sri. U.Ve. K.B Devarajan Swamy and Sri. U.Ve. Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy. Swamy knows Tamil, English, Hindi And Sanskrit. He has lectured all over India and Foreign countries including Australia and New Zealand. He holds a masters degree in information technology from BITS Pilani and worked as a software consultant with a reputed organization. Now he is into full time sampradaya service. He has learnt Sri Pancharatragamam, divya prabandham and some parts of Veda under the able tutelage of many scholars like Sri U. Ve. Vaduganambi Rangacharya swami, Vidwan Sri M. R. Srivatsa swami, Sri Krishna swami bhattar ET Al. Sri U.Ve. Kazhiyur Devarajan Swamy is an eminent Ubhaya Vedantha Vidwan. His grandfather Sri. U.Ve Kazhiyur Duraiswamy Iyengar was a scholar in Ubhaya Vedantha and a great adhyapaka with noble qualities of a real Srivaishnava. His father Sri. U.Ve. Kazhiyur Bhashyam Iyengar, was an ardent Kainkarya para of Sri. U.Ve. Mudaliyandan Thirumaligai. Sri U.Ve. K.B. Devarajan Swamy had his early education in Kanchipuram with graduation in Physics (B.Sc.) in Pachaiyappas College. He had Srivaishnava Deeksha (Samashrayanam) under Sri.U.Ve. Mudaliyandan Periya Swamy (Koil Gandadai Vadhoola Desika Annavilappan Kumara Srisailacharya Swamy). He imbibed the spiritual teachings in a traditional way under tutelage of Sri. U.Ve. Thirumalai Vinjimoor Singaracharya Swamy, Maha Vidwan. Sri. U.Ve. Kanchi Prathivadi Bhayankaram Annangaracharya Swamy, Sri U. Ve. Akkarakani Sampathkumaracharya Swami, Sri U. Ve. A K Sadakopacharya Swami and Sri. U.Ve. Velukkudi K. Varadacharya Swamy (father and Guru of famous Sri. U.Ve. Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy). He learnt Sanskrit from Shri. Prof. PH Sivasubramanya Iyer at Kanchipuram. He has evolved his own inimitable style, eloquent, precise, appropriate and yet easily understandable by even a lay person. Devarajan Swamy is an erudite scholar, and has rendered and rendering discourses on Thiruvoymozhi , Srimad Ramayanam, Srimad Bhagavatham, Sri Vishnupuranam, Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam, Thiruppavai, Bhagavath Gita etc. In Tamil and Hindi. He is the first person to conduct Bhagavatha Sapthaham in TAMIL at Shukratal, where Sri Shukabrahma rishi gave upadesham of Srimadbhagavatham to Pariekshith in seven days. He is also serving as faculty in Kamban Kazhagam, Ambattur. He had also authored hundreds of articles on various topics in Vaishnavism. He has the pride of developing the next generation Srivaishnava Scholars by training four of his disciples in the field of vaishnavism and upanyasams namely Shri. U.Ve. Thenthiruperai Aravinda Lochanan Swami, Shri. U.ve. Akkarakani Srinidhi Swami, Shri. U.Ve. Thenthiruperai Parthasarathy Swami and Shri. U.Ve. Kaliyur Srivallaban Swami(His son). After Shri. U.Ve. Karapangadu Venkatachariyar Swami Shri. K B. Devarajan Swami has the privilege of performing Thiruppavai series Upanyasam simultaneously with his Disciples for past 4 years.
